LA to boycott AZ

LA OKs Arizona Boycott over tough immigration law

I didn't realize California had the means available to boycott 53 million in contracts and business. This whole time I am considering California to be a suffering state in need of Big Brothers help. OK, stop all generosity towards California, they are doing great and are waving their hand to the measly 53 million generated through business between LA and AZ.

Is this really happening? Our states are at financial war with each other. One of the poorest states in our country is boycotting Arizona financially, because the state is asking the legal immigrants to carry proper identification? I am missing something here. As far as I can tell, I haven't read anything on Arizona in financial struggle. In fact, I am sure some of their prisons are CREATING income! Where else is this the case, besides Texas.

Moreover, We are currently at a 10 percent unemployment rate and the state of California is around 12.6 unemployment as of march. This is a great move by California, specifically LA. All of my money is on California falling off the edge of the earth, from their problematic tectonic fault, before Arizona caves to these horrific bullying tactics. Furthermore, Arizona has 49 other states actively seeking new areas for business and business relations. HELLO OPPORTUNITY KNOCKING!

What are your thoughts? I would love some input!

As an AZ resident I fully support the new bill. I have nothing against any immigrants into the U.S. Most people are saying this is unconstitutional because "we are all immigrants", but these people aren't immigrants, they are illegal aliens. Until they start contributing to the cost of running a country they have no right to be here. I welcome any person into the U.S. that will fully integrate themselves as a U.S. citizen. T. Roosevelt said it best in 1907:

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

To me this is yet another perfect example of the progressive mindset. Never dealing in fact or reality just feelings and illogical ideology. A state in a massive budget crisis needing federal aid which comes from all taxpayers in all states including Arizona, and LA is going to reject 53 million on business. And this mindset is currently steering this country. It is a sad state that Arizona even had to enact these laws, it is a federal issue, and AZ had their hand forced by the feds neglect of law and support of these illegals. It is a sad sad day when we see Americans being criminalized for enforcing the law. Now we have AMERICAN students getting suspended from school for wearing shirts with the American flag on them. Where does it end?

I appreciate the quote from Roosevelt Justin. I love that quote and I am glad it is being used. Moreover, Immigration is causing our states to takes sides and boycott each other. Is this the America we want for our children? Andy was right in saying this is Federal neglect. Our current political officials are doing nothing to correct this; moreover, they are going against the majority opinion. We as a people need to vote our our current officials, and move forward to a better America.
