Peaceful Hate

The view from my computer is quintessentially perfect. I am sitting in my favorite recliner next to the big bay windows of our log house, gazing into the lush green fields of alfalfa surrounded with bold lavish trees. I slip into a calm state of relaxation. Political news becomes increasingly frustrating, and I tend to forget the reason I am so motivated with voicing my opinion. I love this country. It is days like this I calmly neglect the hectic schedule of college.

The view is timeless from my chair, but the feeling of comfortability doesn't last long. I am addicted to the internet; I search the news constantly for interesting articles. While searching, I find an article different from those I frequent. "Police: Body found is 12-year-old Colorado girl"; my heart sinks into a tense mixture of sadness and hate. The homicide of this girl has a similar story in every city across the country. The sick sadistic creatures covering this earth are treated with too much kindness in our institutions. The young girl found in the irrigation ditch, experienced cold cruel torture before she died. The inmates with similar conviction stories, watch television and play games while laughing with fellow inmates. Is this Justice? No, this isn't justice; however it is the system we have in place. As much as I don't agree with the outcome, I'll support the process. Moreover, I find comfort in the my religious views.

I feel our capital punishment laws are in need of complete revision. I don't see a point in keeping people alive with multiple life sentences. It is problematic for the prisons and inmates facing small time; it is problematic for our tax dollars. This sounds cruel, but wasn't it an inhuman act that got them convicted? What are your thoughts on the matter?

The entire prison system in this country needs a complete revamp. Capital punishment should be used quickly on people convicted beyond doubt for taking another life. As it is they are treated to many creature comforts their victims no longer enjoy, and because our liberal progressive friends think punishment is inhumane. But the barbaric acts these people committed are somehow excluded from whatever scale these people use to judge what is humane or not.

A very funny, sad, and interesting look into the mindset of people who believe these people should be treated well is to watch their reactions to the Arizona sheriff who keeps his inmates in a tent city in the harsh AZ desert, doing labor all day long. The hippies cried about them not having access to television so the court ordered him to provide it; he did and has the channel locked onto the Disney channel. My favorite part is the jumpsuits are not orange or white or blue, they are a fetching bright pink.

Is it right that the ACLU and all the other elitists in this country are fighting AGAINST this sheriff and supporting these fiends? Well that is for your own opinion; I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death for your right to say it.

I do not believe in the death penatly. Someone kills a little girl, which is very awful. He is thought of as an evil person and maybe they are evil. The people of america decide to kill him. Some call this justice. But I think one of the worst thing anybody can do is take a life from someone else. I think that is pure evil. The man who killed the little girl is evil. So aren't we evil for killing the man? When we die and have to justify our actions, how would we ever justify what we did that man. In the end we are no different than that man.

I believe this could go beyond the death penalty and talk about how we treat our inmates in general. After all the golden rule says "treat others as you want to be treated." I don't believe we have the right to judge who deserves to be treated right and who doesn't. That is not up to us to decide. Once again when we die and have to justify our actions how would you justify saying "I have been the nicest I can be, except to those who did evil things. Those people I judge, I treated bad, made them feel and act less than human." Just because those people do evil acts, does not mean we have to do evil acts back them.

I believe the way our system is set up now does need so re-adjusting. I think there are a lot of good things we have our inmates do then just sit there. But nothing that bad or something that will make them less than human.

Interesting view KGPC77. Your comment would lead me to believe you are a believer in life after death. Moreover, The Bible talks about having appropriate punishment and laws so we can punish those who break the law. The punishment is death. The Murder does an opportunity cost analysis each time they consider the idea of murder; the person confronted with murder is then set on the idea of the punishment worth the crime. Are we evil people for upholding the law we set forth? The person convicted of the crime has forced our hand. We are sending them to their maker for this judgment. What do you think?

Very good take on that Daniel! But as the bible says "having appropriate punishment". This is were you can argue what is appropriate and what is not.
We are not evil for upholding the law we set forth, but we are evil for committing the same act...no?

I don't consider rationalized death by society evil. God showed many examples that execution was necessary to further the progression of righteous men and women. I understand we are not god; however, if we actually executed people for the crimes of murder, I believe we would see a large decrease in the murder rate. Obviously we cannot stop it, but if we can get people to reconsider murder; we save good lives.

Its not evil if the person knows the penalty before he commits the act. If a man knows that he will die for murder, then by murdering he submits himself to that penalty.
